Maineville, Ohio
22-23 August 2022, Tuesday and Wednesday
Our drive on Tuesday from Indiana Dunes to Maineville, Ohio to visit my sister and brother-in-law is comparatively short. It’s delightful to be in a mosquito-free environment, enjoying home-cooked meals! We spend Wednesday speed walking for exercise in the morning, enjoying blueberry pancakes for breakfast, visiting the Smale Riverfront Park in Cincinnati, and then visiting a couple of breweries; Sonder Brewing and Narrow Path Brewing, and finally having dinner at Ramsey’s Trailside. A lovely visit!
Lyndhurst, Ohio
24-30 August 2022, Wednesday – Tuesday
After a quick breakfast of bagels, lox and muffins, O and I are back on the road towards Lyndhurst, only 3 ½ hours away. We are on our way to visit O’s sister and our niece, C, whom we have not seen since our trip west during our move to Washington state two years ago.
Our week-long visit flies by. The weather remains hot and humid, and unsettled at times. Nevertheless, we venture out on neighborhood walks and walks in local parks. We enjoy breakfast muffins and almond scones, excellent dinnertime meals, and post-dinner fiddling (C and I play together.) And desserts! Ranging from ice cream, to homemade chocolate chip cookies to vanilla dunkel-chocolate ice cream “sundaes.”
Wilmington, Delaware
31 August-9 September 2022, Wednesday – Friday
We arrive in Delaware on Wednesday, August 31. We’ll be visiting friends in the greater Wilmington area over the next ten days. Amazingly, just about everyone we hope to see while we are here is available for a visit! Unfortunately, the hot and humid weather continues to follow us, but at least we are in houses with air conditioning, staying first with friend, CW, in our old neighborhood. We get to tromp around Bellevue Park, revisit Iron Hill Brewery at the Wilmington Riverfront, and even drive to Lewes to visit one of my old partners. Of course, while we are here, we also shop, tax-free, at REI at Christiana. We spend the last couple of days staying with parents of one of S’s best high school friends. And we meet up with our niece, K, and her delightful four year old son – also at the Riverfront. The four of us enjoy a walk together at the DuPont Environmental Education Center and another lunch at Iron Hill.
