Enumclaw to Olympia to Bellevue

O and I wake warm and dry at the Enumclaw Guesthouse and Inn. It was a relatively short (1 hour) drive here yesterday afternoon from Rainier. After hot showers we had a lovely dinner at Griffin and Wells Cafe. This morning, from our window, we have one of our clearest views of Rainier! We pack Vincent and are on the road to Olympia just before 8 am to meet S and K for breakfast.

We arrive at our rendezvous in Olympia at 9:30. S and K arrive shortly afterwards. After a hearty breakfast we wander the harbor and then the farmer’s market before driving to Fido’s Farm for Zephy’s herding lesson. (Zephy is a Cardigan Corgi. They are indeed herding dogs, bred to have short legs so they can avoid the kicks of the animals they are herding.) It’s quite entertaining watching Zephy, S and K interact with the sheep.

Herding lesson over, we head back to Bellevue with a stop for hot mochas at Quinn’s Coffee. Back at Bellevue I begin organizing Vincent and piling up laundry and wet gear while S, K, and O go off to give Zephy her post-herding bath. Later we eat dinner in S and K’s bright and dry house – salmon, bread from the farmers market and potatoes, veggies and salad. Dessert is the toll house cookie pie O and I found in Enumclaw. It is very good to be here!
