To Coeur d’Alene, ID

on to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

O and I finish packing everything back into Vincent and leave our Bellevue refuge to head east. Half way across Washington I suddenly realize we did not pack everything. Our travel brownies are hidden in the back of S and K’s refrigerator. Luckily, I come to this realization before we pass Spokane, location of the last Trader Joe’s before we cross into Idaho. (Actually, there is one Trader Joe’s in Idaho, in Boise, approximately 7 hours south of our destination for the day, Coeur d’Alene.) There are none at all in Montana or North Dakota. Why is Trader Joe’s important you may wonder? They have delicious fudgy brownies. We replenish our brownie supply in Spokane and complete our day’s drive to Coeur d’Alene. Dinner is at a tiny gastropub with a huge beer selection, The Filling Station on 5th. The food is very good as well. After dinner O and I wander down to Lake Coeur d’Alene, then stop for ice cream on our way back to Vincent.

Mudgy the Moose, a character from a children’s book, on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene. That’s his friend Millie the mouse on his nose.
