Back in Moab

1 October 2017, Sunday

We wake this morning just after 7 am. Strange to get up without our 3 guides yelling in unison, “COFFEE!!!!” O and I collect piles of laundry and piles of muddy gear for cleaning today. At 8 am I call Jim who suggests that he and Gretchen pick us up for breakfast so we do not have to drive Vincent into town. They show up shortly afterward and we drive together to a little cafe called Eklektica. We enjoy a delightful breakfast while Gretchen and I mark up our Utah Gazetteer with proposed driving routes and places to hike. There is more than we can do in just two weeks. I have us booked for a Navaho tour in about 8 days and we plan to stay in the Moab area to hike and explore in the meantime. Gretchen suggests we stop in for a visit if we make it to Cedar Breaks where she lives.

The rest of the day is spent cleaning off mud, drying wet equipment and doing laundry. We visit a local market to restock our fridge with fruit, veggies, and yogurt and we stop at Moab Brewery to purchase a few bottles of Utah beer for Thanksgiving.
