Taking it easy in Tucson

15-17 October 2015

Thursday: Just a quiet day spent vacuuming the car to get the last of the mouse fur,
etc out of the car, going grocery shopping, doing laundry, and eating
home-cooked delicious pancakes for breakfast. This is followed by
homemade bread and minestrone soup for supper. Time to update the
blog and relax.

Friday: More catching up – eating fresh veggies, typing blog entries, finding
good beer, looking at geckos on the front wall of the house, and watching videos
on the history of the English language with family. This evening a
welcome rain moves across Tucson.

Saturday: Last night was delightful as thunder, lightning and rain moved across the
landscape, dropping 1.3 inches of rain on Tucson. This morning I
attempt to duplicate El Tovar’s stuffed french toast, but mine is
made with brie and lingonberry jam instead of raspberry jam. I think
I come pretty close. After breakfast we drive to Elgin, AZ to tour
some wineries. We buy four bottles of wine which we will have to cram
in the car, along with all of O’s geology books. We are reminded
along the way that:

Elgin is for wine, Napa is for auto parts!

I begin looking at maps to plan our route back home to Pennsylvania. We
are wondering if we can fit in a few more parks and more camping as
we go. We will follow a bit more southerly route and keep an eye on
the weather.
