Ellis KS

It was warmer last night than the night before, but with the fan, we again slept well. This morning we choose a nearby restaurant for breakfast. O and I are shown to a booth. As we peruse our menus we note they are eerily familiar… we realize that the breakfast restaurant we visited while in Cleveland is a chain. This too is a First Watch.

Breakfast is excellent and again we are driving westward. Today’s drive is a bit shorter and we are looking forward to our air conditioned motel stay and the ability to wash our sweaty clothes from the past two days. The entire town of Ellis appears to consist of our motel, the Cancun Mexican Restaurant, a Dairy Queen, a Subway and a gas station. We walk across the road from our motel to Cancun. The food is plentiful and pretty good.

Back in our room, O checks the weather. After a long scientific discussion on the weather site, the conclusion is, “It’s Kansas… In the Summer… It’s HOT… With scattered showers… more-so this weekend.”
