Brule State Forest

Copper Range Campground

When we arrived at our campsite last night, the step stool we had left behind to mark our site as occupied was missing. O went to check with the campground host. Only their dog was home, but a stool very much like ours was outside. This morning we return to the host’s site. This time a woman answers the door. The step stool is indeed, ours. She had taken it to keep it safe.

Step stool recovered, we are off to Marquette MI, about 45 miles to the west for breakfast. The clouds are dark and threatening, and wind gusts off of Superior buffet Vincent. I am very glad we opted for cross-wind assist. We arrive at Doncker’s Restaurant in Marquette. It is listed on line as a candy store with homemade chocolates, but it also comes up on several lists as having the  best breakfast in Marquette. O orders waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. I have an avocado-onion-basil-cheese omelet with hash browns and toast. Yum!!! We learn while waiting for our meals, via a voice mail from Sarah at Wiggins auto tags back in PA, that Vincent is now officially a station wagon. O gives Sarah a call. Our new license plate will soon be on its way to Redmond WA where we will intercept it later in our trip.

By the time we are on the road again, having selected a number of dark chocolate truffles for dessert later today, it is almost noon. The clouds persist as we drive, but the winds calm a bit and there are breaks of sunshine. As we approach Brule State Forest Copper Range Campground, the skies open once again. We set up the tarp for cooking and decide to sleep in Vincent tonight. As we finish our tarp hang, the sun breaks through the clouds. Dinner and 4 truffles are consumed. Time now for journalling.
