Moab, Sierra Club Trip Begins

25 September 2017, Monday

We wake after a cold night. I did not sleep much due to traffic noise along the road and also because of our snoring neighbor. Poor O almost took an elbow in the ribs for the snoring, but I realized he was not the culprit just in time.

Today we meet our Sierra Club canoeing group for a little pre-trip explore of Moab’s environs. There are many petroglyphs just outside of Moab dating as far back as 9000 to 11000 years. We hike up a trail for an explore of fossils, dinosaur tracks and a view of the Colorado River. We next return to Moab for a tour of the Moab Museum. This is followed by a meeting with the outfitters to discuss river safety and etiquette. The day ends at the Moab Brewery where we all have dinner together and get to know one another a bit better.

Our hike begins.
