Basin Montana Campground

20 August 2017, Sunday

It was refreshingly cold last night. O even got out the extra fuzzy grey fleece blanket to put over our down quilt. Despite our night’s sleep, we are both pretty tired today. Perhaps it is from driving nearly 1000 miles in two days. As expected, the family at campsite 5 packs up and leaves this morning as we are in the midst of reorganizing Vincent. We pack canoeing gear in the hard to reach places as we will not need it again on this journey. (The Green River trip is with an outfitter and all canoeing equipment is provided.) We repack the now dry Big Agnes tent, and then restring the small tarp with a better cord and pack it as well. O exchanges the dairy crate holding our extra water bottles with the crate holding extra rigging and backpacking gear. Now the bottles are more accessible and the other crate supports the upper shelf across Vincent. I do some food reorganizing and repack my day pack.

Wglwof is set up at our streamside campsite

We empty Wglwof and carry him to our new campsite. Then I return our car camping gear to the tent. Once our new site is set up we drive into Red Lodge to seek breakfast pastries and sandwiches for our eclipse trip to Shoshoni tomorrow. Our expedition is successful. We also restock on fresh veggies, yogurt and half and half at the local supermarket. O tops off Vincent’s tank and we return to camp for dinner and relaxation.
