Ballard Locks and Puppies

2 October 2016, Sunday

One of the salmon heading upstream.

Today we drive to the Ballard Locks to view the fish ladder. There are actually windows here providing a peek into the underwater salmon world, where the fish appear to be resting and gathering strength for their next leap upstream. From the locks we walk to Portage Bay Ballard for brunch. We each order something different, the more dishes to taste!

Zephy!
Zephie after an exhausting afternoon meeting her “grandparents.”

We return home to Skype with Grandpa and then drive to Gig Harbor to meet S and K’s new puppy and her siblings. The seven puppies all have “C” names since it is mom’s third litter. S and K’s puppy is Claire. “Clair Voyant” is a strong candidate for her official name, but the name used to call her will be Zephyr, Zephie for short. We spend an enjoyable few hours getting covered in fur while having fingers, toes, and shoes nibbled by multiple curious Welsh Corgi puppies. Then we return home for a delightful Rosh Hashanah dinner together.
